Real experiences

Days Out

Some of the best days aren't planned around a workout or a meal plan. They're spent somewhere new, with people you love, walking a lot and talking even more. This is where I share those days: real outings around Melbourne and Victoria, with my own photos, honest thoughts and practical tips if you want to go too.

Why this belongs here

Why days out are part of a life built well

It might seem odd to put car shows and gold-rush towns next to meal ideas and morning routines. But a grounded life isn't only built in the quiet routines of home. It's also built in shared experiences: the conversations in the car, the jokes on the way, and the photos you look back on years later.

  • Movement without trying. A good day out often means hours on your feet without it ever feeling like exercise.
  • Presence over screens. When there's something real in front of you, it's easier to put the phone away.
  • Connection. Time spent together is one of the best investments you can make in a family.
  • Gratitude. New places, and history especially, remind you how much you already have.
Make it simple

Five habits for a good day out

  1. Keep the plan light. Choose one main thing to see and let the rest of the day unfold.
  2. Pack food that keeps you steady. Water, fruit, nuts and a proper lunch beat a day of snacks. (Some ideas: simple meals I actually eat.)
  3. Wear shoes you can walk in all day. Most good outings involve far more walking than you expect.
  4. Take photos, then put the phone away. Capture the moment, then be in it.
  5. Talk about it on the way home. Ask each other: what was your favourite part? It turns a day out into a memory.
